Winter Activities

Flathead Lake has its own SKI resort – Blacktail Mountain Ski Area, located in Lakeside, MT, with incredible views of Flathead Lake, and beyond into Glacier National Park.  Also close by is Whitefish Mountain Resort, a world class ski destination, just 25 miles north of Flathead Lake.

If you are looking for a quieter experience, the area offers several groomed trails for Cross-County-Skiing and Snow Shoeing.

There is no better way to experience the Flathead’s winter natural beauty than by snowmobile.  With over 200 miles of groomed trails, there is plenty to explore.  Flathead Snowmobile Association.

Other winter activities include Tobogganing on one of many nearby hills, Ice skating on one of Flathead Lake’s frozen bays, or Ice-fishing on one of the smaller nearby lakes.  Once you and your family are done playing all day in the snow, come back to your home and curl up to a roaring fire, enjoying a hot beverage, and just relax.
